The Hunger

I don't know what it is...but everyday at 3:00 I become ravenously hungry.  Not like..."Hey, a cupcake sounds yummy"...but a "If I don't eat right now I will collapse..."  I can't seem to shake it.  I am eating enough food....eating healthier but can't seem to get by 3:00.  I try to eat a kashi bar or something small to get over the hump, but it doesn't seem to work.  I wish my stomach had an on/off button.

  1. You do need to consume more when you're training, remember...try some hummus and celery, or greek yogurt...and let me know if you find that on/off button on sale somewhere ;)

  2. Drop in blood sugar? Maybe try the kashi bar w/ orange juice?

  3. The orange juice idea sounds like a winner...I will add that today.

Val, I think it was also a "system adjustment" because yesterday was much better. I also realized that I was eating my lunch too early...and I needed to wait an extra hour before having that meal. I was eating out of habit and hunger or readiness...Let's see what today brings. I am also packing extra vegetables in case I hit the level again...some veg will be the perfect solution!

  4. Perhaps switch your fruit around and have a banana for an afternoon snack? I have seen the following in a couple of recent newsletters: "Ever grab a snack but then feel hungry again 20 minutes later? Next time, reach for a banana. It's loaded with Resistant Starch(RS), a healthy carb that fills you up and helps to boost your metabolism. Slightly under ripe medium-sized bananas have 12.5 grams of RS. Ripe bananas give you 4.7 grams of RS."
